Landscape Architect

Designer & Office Manager

Rob Tyler, AIA is a licensed Architect in the State of California, President, and co-founder of Tyler+Kelly Architecture. With over 32 years of professional experience, Rob has been responsible for the design and construction oversight of over 300 projects including commercial, industrial, institutional, and mixed-use developments, as well as multi-family and single-family residential developments.

Rob approaches each new project with the primary concept that design should personify the unique functional and aesthetic needs of the client without imposing any pre-selected architectural vernacular. The result is a synthesis of fine custom architecture, reflective of the client’s unique lifestyle and workflow patterns, responsive to site opportunities, and responsible toward budget constraints.

With both a significant depth of experience dealing with complex entitlement processes and having served in appointed capacities for several municipal review boards, Rob’s perspective on process brings balance to the sensitive challenges of infill development in an urban context.

Jonathan Kelly, AIA is Licensed Architect in the State of California, a LEED Accredited Professional with the U.S. Green Building Council, a graduate of the University of Notre Dame School of Architecture, and a Principal at Tyler+Kelly Architecture.  Jon has accumulated over 11 years of professional experience in a variety of different project types including commercial, institutional, hospitality, mixed-use, multi-family residential, and single-family residential.

Prior to Tyler+Kelly Architecture, Jon worked under the tutelage of two prestigious and celebrated traditional architects:  Robert A.M. Stern in New York and Marc Appleton in Santa Monica.  With Stern, Jon focused on Academic & Higher Education projects, while at Appleton he focused mainly on Hospitality projects.

Jon brings to Tyler+Kelly a passion for Traditional Architecture, rooted in research and nurtured to reality with careful consideration toward materiality and detailing.  His approach to design is fundamentally based on hand-sketches and massing studies, which pairs well with his dexterity in 3D modeling platforms.
